Privacy Policy

RSN8 Inc. (“RSN8”, “we”, “us”) is an electronic music events company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We produce live events, including the DYSTOPIA series, and operate this website.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to our email communications. It does not apply to ticketing, which is handled by DICE under their own privacy policy.

We keep this deliberately small. We collect only:

• Your email address, when you subscribe to our mailing list.
• Your name, email address and message, when you use our contact form, along with the topic you select.
• A record of your sign-up, including when you subscribed, which sign-up form or campaign you used, and any later request to unsubscribe or to stop sharing.
• Basic server logs generated automatically by our hosting provider, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. These are used for security and to keep the site running.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics on this website. We do not collect payment information, because we never handle payments. We do not buy or rent mailing lists.

When you give us your email address, whether through the subscribe form on this website or through one of our sign-up pages, contests or pre-registration campaigns, you are giving RSN8 Inc. your express consent to send you commercial electronic messages. These include event announcements, lineup reveals, presale codes, ticket release reminders, occasional venue or location details, and news about RSN8 and the DYSTOPIA series.

Consent is given by you, actively, at the moment you submit the form. We do not add people to our mailing list because they bought a ticket, attended an event, emailed us, or appeared on a guest list. If you are on our list, it is because you asked to be.

Every email we send identifies RSN8 Inc., includes our mailing contact details, and carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and always.

RSN8 works with Toronto residents and with international artists who travel to perform at our events. Where you have specifically agreed to it, we may share your email address with artists who have performed at, or are booked to perform at, an RSN8 event, so that those artists can contact you about their own music, releases, tours and shows, including shows in or near your city.

By subscribing to the RSN8 mailing list you agree to this sharing as part of your subscription. We say so at the point of sign-up, and we are saying it again here so there is no surprise. If you would rather not have your address shared, tell us at info@rsn8.ca and we will flag your record so it is excluded, or you can unsubscribe entirely at any time.

Here is exactly what happens and what does not:

• We share your email address only. We do not share your name, location, phone number, ticket history or attendance history, because we do not hold them.
• We share only with artists who have performed at an RSN8 event or are booked to perform at one, or with the manager or label acting for that artist. We do not share with venues, sponsors, brands, advertisers, data brokers or any other third party for their marketing.
• Once shared, the artist is independently responsible for the messages they send you and for honouring your unsubscribe requests. Their use of your email address is governed by their own privacy practices, not this policy.
• We require artists to contact you only about music and events, to identify themselves clearly, and to include a working unsubscribe mechanism in every message.
• We never sell your email address. No money changes hands for your data, in either direction.

You can withdraw from this sharing at any time while staying subscribed to RSN8. Email us at info@rsn8.ca and we will stop sharing your address going forward. Withdrawal is not retroactive: we cannot recall an address already given to an artist, so you may need to unsubscribe from that artist directly using the unsubscribe link in their email. We will tell you which artists received your address if you ask.

We use a small number of companies to run this website and send our email. They process your information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

• Audience Republic hosts our sign-up campaigns and stores our mailing list, and is where most subscriptions are collected.
• Resend delivers email sent from this website, such as replies to the contact form.
• Vercel hosts this website and generates the server logs described above.
• DICE sells our tickets. If you buy a ticket, you deal with DICE directly and they collect your information under their own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details, and we do not add ticket buyers to our mailing list.

We may also disclose personal information where required by law, to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the safety of our guests, staff and artists.

RSN8 is based in Canada, but our service providers store and process information on servers located in the United States and other countries. This means your information may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access requests by their courts and government authorities.

By subscribing, you consent to your email address being transferred to and stored in those countries for the purposes described in this policy.

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe, and for a short period afterwards so we can honour your request and avoid adding you back by mistake. We keep a record of your consent choices for as long as required to demonstrate compliance with Canadian anti-spam law.

Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of our correspondence.

Under Canadian privacy law you have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time, using any email we have sent you.
• Ask us to stop sharing your email address with artists, while remaining subscribed.
• Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
• Ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligation to retain it.
• Ask which artists have received your email address.
• Complain to us, and to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these, email info@rsn8.ca. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

This website is served over an encrypted connection, and access to our mailing list is limited to the people at RSN8 who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but because we hold so little about you, there is very little to expose.

RSN8 events are 19+. This website and our mailing list are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province. If you believe a minor has subscribed, contact us and we will remove the address.

We may update this policy as our practices change. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version. If we ever want to use your information in a materially different way, we will ask for your consent before we do it, rather than relying on a quiet update here.
